Merrill buys into second alternatives manager this week

Merrill Lynch has bought a stake in a $4bn (€3bn) alternative asset manager, just three days after acquiring one-fifth of a hedge fund business.

Merrill will become a minority investor in Sterling Stamos Capital Management, a private investment firm that manages more than $4bn (€3bn) in assets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
