Merrill Lynch hires fundraiser in prime broking

Merrill Lynch has added to its growing prime broking services business by hiring a head of capital introductions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa from UBS to help hedge funds raise fresh investment.

Ian Carton and Ashley Wilson, Merrill Lynch's co-heads of global markets financing and services for the three regions, said in an internal memo to staff that Melissa Carnathan was joining from UBS as a managing director and would report to Anita Nemes, the bank's global head of capital introduction.
