Merrill Lynch replaces research head

Merrill Lynch has appointed Simon Greenwell as head of European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) research to replace Rennie McConnochie, who left last week to join Bridgewell Group, the UK investment banking boutique.

Greenwell has been part of Merrill Lynch's research management for four years, after being made deputy director and co-head of sector research in June 2000. He was responsible for running the bank's daily morning call meetings to decide top European ideas and for research marketing.
