Merrill predicts gold rush

The price of gold could be about to break through its recent high of $454 per ounce, according to analysts at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Graham Birch, who manages the Merrill Lynch gold and general fund, said higher prices were on the cards because the fundamentals of supply and demand were pointing in the same direction.
