Microsoft hires former Lazard man to lead acquisitions

Microsoft has gone to the banking world to find a head for its corporate development activities, choosing a former Lazard managing director for the job.

Richard Emerson, former managing director and co-head of technology and telecoms advisory services at Lazard, will lead Microsoft's mergers and acquisitions and partnerships. He becomes senior vice-president of corporate development and strategy. He was based in Lazard's San Francisco office.
