Peter Cannon, former head of acquisition finance at Lloyds TSB, is to join Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as a director in its European high yield debt team.

Cannon, who starts in August, will be working on existing high yield fixed income accounts, and along with the firm's eight-strong team already in place, will develop MLIM's debt product line.
