European pension fund managers should focus on increasing their allocation of private equity funds in their portfolios, according to a new report produced by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.

Elena de las Heras, the MSDW analyst who authored the report, believes that at least a 5% weighting towards private equity is necessary before it can have a material impact on investment returns.
