Mrs Moneypenny: Over and out from yours truly

Our correspondent bids a fond farewell to the readers who have followed her adventures in the columns of this newspaper

What I will miss about writing this column is the relationship I have with its readers, most of whom I do not know.

From time to time, though, they discover me. I will never forget in March 2000 chatting to an investment banker from Morgan Stanley as we waited to catch a Concorde flight to New York. After he absorbed various pieces of information about where I lived – Japan at the time – what I did for a living and that I had three sons, he suddenly asked: "Is your husband Australian?"
