Nationwide Mutual Insurance lands Gartmore

Nationwide Mutual Insurance has been victorious in buying Gartmore Investment Management, the £53bn fund management business of NatWest from Royal Bank of Scotland for the princely sum of £1.03bn.

Nationwide, which had only recently emerged as a key bidder pipped frontrunners CGU and ABN Amro to the post for Gartmore (see eFinancialNews, March 20).
