New issuance in the international debt markets slowed in the second quarter this year, the Basel-based Bank for International Settlements said in its latest review.

Although it noted that new issuance 'remained at a strong pace overall', the bank said just $347.5bn (€288.2bn) of debt capital was raised in the second quarter - compared with $521bn borrowed in the first three months of the year.
