Nasdaq outbids Euronext for control of Norwegian exchange

US exchange group is looking to strengthen its grip on the Nordic markets

Nasdaq has topped Euronext's offer to start a battle for control of Oslo Børs. The US exchange is looking to strengthen its grip on the Nordic markets.

Nasdaq said it has bid roughly $770m dollars for Oslo Børs, equivalent to 152 Norwegian kroner (roughly $18) per share. The offer is 5% higher than the European exchanges operator's bid of 145 kroner per share.
