NYSE licence auction fetches $62.3m

The New York Stock Exchange has raised $62.3m (€51.6m) from auctioning trading licences for the first time after ending seat sales ahead of the stock market's merger with Archipelago, the electronic exchange operator.

The SEATS, or Stock Exchange Auction Trading System, auction resulted in 1,274 bids at an annual price of $49,290 each.
