NYSE targets former State Street boss for chairman

Marshall Carter, former chairman and chief executive of State Street, the Boston-based bank, is believed to be the front-runner to replace the New York Stock Exchange's outgoing chairman, John Reed, who is stepping down next month.

The decision is expected to be finalised at a board meeting on April 7, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the situation.
