Oil chokes Dutch pension performance

The drop in the oil price has hit commodity investments held by the major Dutch pension funds, and prompted a more diversified approach from managers.

PGGM, the health care and social workers' pension fund, was hit particularly hard. Its commodity investments returned -18.1% in the third quarter, against 5.3% in the second quarter. Commodities returned -16.3% year to date.
