Old Mutual, the UK-listed insurer, more than trebled pre-tax profits in its asset management operations in the first half of the year, boosted by record cash inflows in the US.

Pre-tax profits grew from £28m (€40.6m) in the first six months of last year to £92m at the end of June this year.
