BA’s investment chief lands long-service prize

Under McGregor-Smith’s leadership, the £17bn BA schemes’ in-house team of 40 investment staff has further diversified investments and safeguarded its equity investments

It was a close run between Michelle McGregor-Smith, chief executive of BA Pension Investment Management, and Gerry Degaute, outgoing chief executive of the Royal Mail Pension Plan, in the voting for this award. But McGregor-Smith was victorious.

Years of quietly efficient service at the top of the pensions industry have stood both in good stead, with both having spent more than two decades with a single employer.
