The now ex-JP Morgan Cazenove banker and former SAS soldier was this week fined £450,000 for market abuse in one of the most high-profile cases yet brought by the UK Financial Services Authority. The regulator conceded that Hannam did not intentionally carry out market abuse, but his senior position warranted the fine. The FSA alleges that inside information was passed to a prospective investor whilst Hannam was working as lead adviser to client Heritage Oil. He will appeal.
