Pictet makes India hire after tough year

The asset manager drafts in a senior investment manager after Indian Equity fund takes a pummelling

Pictet Asset Management has hired a senior investment manager for India in the emerging markets equities team, as it seeks to improve on a difficult 2011 on the subcontinent.

Prashant Kothari, previously a vice-president and senior investment manager at ICICI Prudential Asset Management, is the latest in a number of senior hires to the department, which has been struggling in tandem with other emerging market asset managers. Kothari began his career as an analyst at ICICI, studying a variety of sectors in India, including financials, industrials, telecoms and retail. According to Kothari's LinkedIn profile, he is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.
