Pressure on ThyssenKrupp as Arcelor ups Dofasco bid

German industrial giant ThyssenKrupp's C$4.8bn (€3.5bn) agreed bid for Canadian steelmaker Dofasco was put under renewed pressure this morning as Arcelor, the French steelmaker, upped its rival hostile offer to C$4.9bn.

Arcelor, advised by UBS and Merrill Lynch, said in a statement it would pay C$63 cash for each Dofasco share.
