Putnam hit by $3.2bn monthly outflow

Putnam Investments, the $191bn (€144bn) US fund manager put up for sale by its parent Marsh & McLennan in September, had the highest net outflows in October of all US mutual fund groups.

Putnam had net outflows of $3.2bn in October, followed by Morgan Stanley's Van Kampen Investments which recorded losses of $1.8bn, according to Financial Research Corporation.
