Quadruple first for Murley

When Richard Murley was appointed director-general of the UK Takeover Panel in 2003, he was the first banker from a US investment bank – Goldman Sachs – to take on the post.

He then became the first director-general to have his two-year tenure extended after the panel decided the complexities of tweaking the UK's takeover laws to ensure they were in line with the European directive required a little more work.
