Rainer sets time on new rules for US exchanges

William Rainer, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, has suggested that a new rulebook for US derivatives exchanges could be in place by September.

In the first indication of a timetable for the framework, which aims to free up the regulatory burden on US exchanges and help them meet the competitive threat from electronic start-ups, Rainer hinted that a final draft of the rulebook is already within reach.
