UK state-backed lender appoints former Morgan Stanley fixed-income guru in global electronic trading push

The Royal of Bank of Scotland has appointed a former managing director at Morgan Stanley to head up its global electronic trading team, in the latest high-profile hire by the state-backed lender into its trading division.

Jeremy Smart, who was most recently global head of e-commerce sales at Morgan Stanley, has joined RBS as its global head of electronic distribution, the UK bank said in a statement yesterday.
