RBS revives an old investment banking brand

Split up back in 1997, NatWest Markets is being brought back as Royal Bank of Scotland's corporate and institutional bank amid a restructuring around ringfencing rules

RBS is bringing back a brand not seen in the investment banking industry for some 20 years - the latest old-school City name to be revived.

The bank said on September 30 that it would rebrand its corporate and institutional banking business as NatWest Markets. The move is part of a broader restructuring of the group ahead of new UK rules over ringfencing, coming into force in 2019.
