Redundant bankers go back to school

Redundancies and poor bonuses are driving financial services professionals back to school. UK business schools and universities have reported a big increase in applications for MSc courses in finance-related subjects.

Investment banks have shed thousands of staff in recent months as they face up to falling stock markets, low M&A business and reduced corporate finance work. Hundreds more workers facing low or no bonuses are taking sabbaticals to ride out the storm.
