Reed hits back as NYSE under fire over securities probe

John Reed, interim chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, has rounded on critics of the exchange and firmly ruled out the prospect of dropping the self-regulatory model.

In his first official appearance in Washington Reed told Michael Oxley, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, that those proposing an end to the NYSE's role as a regulator were plain wrong.
