Regulator tells Sky to reduce ITV stake

The Competition Commission, the regulatory body charged with maintaining a free market in the UK and preventing monopolies, has recommended that broadcaster BSkyB be forced to reduce its stake in its rival ITV from 17.9% to below 7.5%.

The commission submitted its report to John Hutton, UK secretary of state for business, enterprise and regulatory reform, at the start of December. Hutton has until January 29 to make a final decision.
