Richard Buxton close to sealing £550m deal for OMGI

Star UK fund manager Richard Buxton is on the brink of completing a £550m management buyout of Old Mutual Global Investors with backing from private equity firm TA Associates.

An announcement, thought to be imminent, would complete a frantic bidding war for the £25bn asset management arm of the FTSE 100-listed South African financial services group, which has seen interest from firms including Australia's Macquarie.
