S&P warns top European companies on pension shortfalls

Standard & Poor's (S&P), the global ratings agency, has warned a number of European companies they face being downgraded because of concerns over meeting pension fund obligations.

GKN, Pilkington and Deutsche Post are among 10 companies that have been put on credit watch following deteriorating equity values that S&P said was creating substantial deficits in company pension funds.
