Schroder Ventures and Goldman Sachs Capital buy Cognis

Schroder Ventures and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners have acquired Cognis, the chemicals subsidiary of Henkel, the German conglomerate, for €2.6bn ($2.35bn) in one of the largest European buy-out deals of 2001.

Thomas Jetter, a partner at Schroder Ventures, said: &quotThis a landmark buy-out in Europe. The total financing volume will be around €3bn.&quot Jetter was unable to disclose further financial details.
