Scottish Power hires Morgan Stanley to advise on utilities talks

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter is keeping a watching brief for Scottish Power as the company follows the talks between utility groups E.ON and Powergen.

Morgan Stanley was the obvious choice since the bank advised on the £4.2bn (€6.6bn) acquisition of Pacificorp in December 1998. The relationship has remained close thanks to the efforts of William Vereker, a senior banker with Morgan Stanley.
