On Sunday morning, as the first-round polls opened in France's presidential election, a throng of Societe Generale bankers rushed to catch Eurostar trains and get home for the vote.

These weren't French nationals working for the bank in London, but France-based employees who had been in the UK capital to enjoy the fruits of a years-long team-building project.
