Société Générale to buy €400bn UniCredit custody arm

Société Générale is reported to have entered into exclusive negotiations with UniCredit, the Italian banking group, to buy its Italian custody business.

The buy-out would make the French bank the second largest depositary bank and transfer agent in Italy.
