SoftBank-backed Greensill donates £2.5m to founder’s alma mater

The supply-chain finance firm has a large technology base in a town near the University of Manchester

It is common for City bigwigs to donate eye-popping sums of money to their former universities. Multi-million pound donations from fintech start-ups that have only recently turned a profit, on the other hand, are rare.

On December 17, Greensill Capital, a fintech firm in the supply-chain finance sector, announced a £2.5m donation to the university that its founder and chief executive attended for two years.
