Sony-BMG merger banks set to miss out on €6bn deal credit

The failure by Sony and Bertelsmann to confirm the deal value of their music business merger could hit the M&A league rankings of the banks which advised them.

The merger was understood to be worth up to €6bn ($7.4bn) when it was announced last November, with Credit Suisse First Boston advising Sony, the media company based in Tokyo, and JP Morgan and Merrill Lynch advising Bertelsmann, a German media group.
