South Africa's first biotech funds launched

Gensec Bank and Real Africa, two South African investment groups, have launched the country's first venture capital biotechnology fund.

The fund, Bioventures, has initial capital of R40m (€5.6m) seeded by Gensec and Real Africa. A second closing will depend on the interest and appetite of institutional investors.
