Sports Direct gets closer to Kaupthing

Sports Direct has increased its reliance on Icelandic financial group Kaupthing amid a deteriorating relationship with the City of London over the 10 months since the UK retailer floated.

Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander, the investment bank created in 2005 and which is already broker to the company, has emerged as a lender to Sports Direct, whose relations with analysts and investors have suffered since the company floated in February.
