Standard Chartered has unveiled a plan to bolster its chief executive’s pay to up to £13.1m as it has overhauled its compensation after the UK scrapped a long-standing cap on bonuses.

The UK lender is proposing a new pay structure for its chief executive Bill Winters and chief financial officer Diego De Giorgi, which would see the pair take a significant cut in base salary in return for a potentially bigger bonus.
