State Street Global Advisors, the US fund management group, has hired Valerie Nicholson from European rival F&C Asset Management as director of marketing and consultant liaison.

Nicholson, who will have a Europe-wide brief, will be based in the UK reporting to Kanesh Lakhani, head of European marketing and consultant relations.
