Sterlite files for largest Indian IPO

Sterlite Industries, the India-based metals company, has filed for an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange that could raise up to $2bn (€1.6bn), making it the largest Indian offering in the US to date.

The second largest flotation of an Indian company this year was professional outsourcing company WNS Holdings' $255m offering on the NYSE in January, according to Dealogic, the investment banking research provider.
