Suitor seeks to buy Liontrust

An undisclosed suitor has been holding initial takeover talks with Liontrust Asset Management, a UK-listed fund manager with £5bn under management, as bankers predict a "slow trickle" of mergers in the sector.

The board of directors of Liontrust Asset Management said it had appointed as adviser Hawkpoint Partners, a UK corporate finance firm with a specialism in asset management.
