Swiss exchange accused of ‘data harvesting’ in GDPR gaffe

Company accused of ‘super excessive’ behaviour after demanding a copy of a passport to unsubscribe from marketing emails

The Swiss stock exchange Six has been accused of “losing the plot” after demanding a passport copy from a fintech founder who tried to unsubscribe from the company's marketing emails.

Andrew White, founder and chief executive of FundApps, a regulatory tech company, told Financial News that the data request “was not required”. He called it “data harvesting in the worst form”.
