Swiss Life buys Fortis' insurance operation in France

Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt Group, the Swiss financial services company, is buying the French insurance operation of Dutch-Belgian insurer Fortis.

The firm is paying between €150m ($131.4m) and €200m for the acquisition, which mostly comprises Fortis Assurance, the life insurance operation that holds less than 1% of the market share in France.
