Two high-profile women working in UK finance have been appointed to the Bank of England’s ranks of external advisers – a boost to diversity at the central bank, which has been criticised for its male-dominated committees.

HM Treasury and the Bank of England announced the appointments of Dame Colette Bowe and Dame Jayne-Anne Gadhia to the Financial Policy Committee in a statement on January 3.
