Silchester International Investors has become the latest shareholder in Credit Suisse to publicly declare its support for chief executive Tidjane Thiam amid a reported power struggle at the top of the Swiss bank.

In a statement issued on 5 February, Silchester, which owns a 3.3% stake in Credit Suisse, said the bank’s chair, Urs Rohner, should consider bringing his retirement date forward if he did not back Thiam fully.
