Top lawyer quits US derivatives regulator

Patrick McCarty, the top lawyer at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the US derivatives industry regulator, is to step down from his post on October 1.

McCarty will remain at the CFTC with the title "special counsel" until the end of this year, when he will return to the private sector, the CFTC said.
