Trading Places: Linklaters guns for growth, Shearman’s Paris head leaves, Davies hands over at NatWest

Linklaters has hired an ex-Allen & Overy executive to a newly created role of chief growth officer. The Magic Circle firm has appointed Lucy Murphy to the new post. Murphy was chief marketing officer at A&O and a member of the firm’s executive committee between July 2021 and April 2023, before which she was chief marketing officer at Freshfields.

Shearman & Sterling’s Paris head is leaving as part of a four-partner move ahead of the US law firm’s merger with Allen & Overy. Shearman’s Paris managing partner Xavier Norlain is jumping to rival US firm Proskauer Rose along with three other partners: Jeremy Scemama, Maud Manon and Matthieu Lampel.
