UBS shrinks private equity more than 40%

UBS reduced the size of its private equity portfolio by more than 40% last year to Sfr700m (€445m).

The Swiss bank, whose UBS Capital unit had built up a portfolio valued at Sfr5.7bn in 2000, suffered a series of write-downs when the dotcom bubble burst and began a formal process to sell its portfolio in 2002.
