UK accounting watchdog to fold following Carillion collapse

The Financial Reporting Council will be replaced by a new body following a government-commissioned review

The UK accounting regulator is to be disbanded and replaced by a new body with tougher powers, the British government has announced.

The move follows a damning review into the Financial Reporting Council, which came after the collapse of a number of high-profile companies including BHS, Carillion and Patisserie Valerie.
