The UK government said it continues to recognise Juan Guaido as the President of Venezuela in an intervention in a Supreme Court battle over $2bn of Venezuelan gold in the vaults of the Bank of England.

The case centres on who is the rightful president of Venezuela: Nicolas Maduro or Guaido.
